How to take better care of your skin in 2022

“New Year, New Me”, if this was your mantra this month then we have some tips to ensure that your skin game is leveled up this year. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and therefore should be taken care of to prevent the occurrence of skin disease and infections. Below are some tips on maintaining healthy skin this new year.

  1. WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY

Nothing ages the skin faster than sun damage. To prevent this daily damage from the sun, it is important to wear sunscreen every day. For skin that is naturally oily, it is important to choose sunscreen formulations that are OIL-FREE. Dermatologists advocate for consistent use of sunscreen as the greatest weapon against accelerated aging and skin cancers,

  1. STOP USING EXPIRED PRODUCTS

Most skincare products have a shelf-life of under 18 months. As we are in the new year, it is a good time to take an audit of the products you are currently using and see if they have reached their expiration dates. Arrange your skincare cabinet and shelf according to products that are close to expiration. Remember to also throw away products that might have caused adverse reactions on your skin. While doing this cleanup of your products, also check to see what products you use the most and stock up on them, while reducing the size of the products you use the least.

  1. AVOID PICKING YOUR PIMPLE

If you are someone that is fond of popping their pimple or picking at their skin, try to stop that habit entirely this year. One of the ways to cause hyperpigmentation and skin infection is to break your skin’s barrier with your nails.

  1. DEVELOP A SKINCARE REGIMEN

Commit to having healthy flawless skin this year by developing a healthy skincare regimen and being consistent with it. If you are just starting a similar four-step routine would work, eg: Cleanse, tone, sunscreen, and moisturizer for daytime, Cleanse, tone, treat and moisturize for nighttime. It is important to study your skin to know what your pressing needs are and develop a routine that will help you maintain and manage them better.

  1. EAT FOR BETTER SKIN

Having healthy beautiful skin is not just about products you apply to your skin, but also about what you eat. This year endeavor to avoid being dehydrated which can wreak havoc to the skin by drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, avoid sugary drinks and food since they can cause inflammation to the body. Also, increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables, an easy way to do this is by adding 2 fruits to your breakfast and having a bowl of salad with your dinner.

Remember goals are achieved by adding healthy habits each day to what you are already doing. We wish you a flawless
